This Staff Java Developer position works onsite out of our Sylmar CA location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division . As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.
What You’ll Work On
Demonstrates expert knowledge and proficiency of the complete software development process.
Design / Implement software in current OOPs programming languages such as Java with a good understanding of object-oriented programming principles, data structures, state machines, synchronization and multi-thread concepts.
Oversee end-to-end implementation of all internal and external interfaces, implementation patterns and unit, integration and performance testing strategy for all features in one or more subsystems.
Debugs, troubleshoots, and isolates software problems as well as provide strategic solutions, analysis, and contribute to process / design improvements.
Independently manage the product development, issue tracking and design description process with input from others. Communicates with internal stakeholders on decisions that impact their team.
Conduct design reviews, maintain / update design documents and address review feedback. Also contribute and support reviews held by peers on related projects and provide feedback.
Assess areas impacted by new feature requests and determine approach to accommodate new capabilities.
Contribute to project planning by providing effort estimates for implementing new features / functionality.
Continually improve the release processes to increase its reliability, capabilities, and speed.
Provides technical feasibility assessment on emerging user needs and product requirements, leads proof-of-concepts and proposes optimal design solutions compatible with the software system architecture.
Leads root cause investigations on high-complexity or high-severity issues.
Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices in software engineering.
Mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
8+ years of hands-on experience in Core Java development.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and data structures.
Expertise in multithreading, concurrency, and synchronization.
Experience with I / O, serialization, collections, and memory management.
Proven expertise in software architecture and framework building. Solid understanding of UI / UX design principles and best practices.
Experience with visual modeling, graphical user interfaces, multi-threading, formal software development methodologies, and source code management.
Familiarity with build tools (Maven / Gradle) and version control systems (Git).
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering or computer science preferred
Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for staying updated with the latest industry trends.
Medical device product development knowledge a plus
Ability to independently learn / explore existing system functionality.
Progressively more responsible work experience in a range of software engineering disciplines using a variety of programming methods.
Intermediate to moderate understanding of Linux Operating system.
Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills. Ability to debug and arrive at solutions.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
