Summary The Senior Electrical Engineer assumes engineering responsibility for multiple phases of product design and development for Induction and Synchronous motors—including design, verification, implementation, validation, and production support.
This role operates with general direction from senior engineers or the Engineering Manager and requires a high level of technical expertise, initiative, and cross-functional collaboration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead product design and development using CAD tools and established design standards.
Perform engineering calculations and simulations using closed-form methods, FEA, and other tools; develop reusable analysis applications.
Provide technical input to support sales negotiations for non-standard products.
Review and approve drawings, schematics, bills of material, and documentation for manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning.
Build expertise across multiple product families and engineering disciplines.
Create and enhance design guidelines based on experience and technical learning.
Prepare engineering reports with cross-functional input; some reports may be externally distributed.
Support new product development through specifications, prototyping, testing, and documentation.
Analyze project feasibility within time and cost constraints.
Execute tasks on schedule and oversee junior engineers; provide timely project status updates.
Lead initiatives in product improvement, standardization, cost reduction, and cycle time optimization.
Provide direction on non-conformance dispositions and corrective actions.
Mentor and review work of less experienced engineers and designers.
Ensure product compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations.
Contribute to technical papers and invention disclosures.
Represent the company at customer meetings and technical conferences.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards, safety procedures, affirmative action plans, and drug-free workplace policies.
Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
Scope, Purpose, and Frequency of Contacts Daily interaction with internal teams across Engineering, Marketing, Factory Operations, Supply Chain, Service, and Accounting, as well as external customers.
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred). 5–8 years of relevant work experience in designing rotating machines, preferably electric motors and generators.
Experience with medium and high voltage equipment (2.4 – 13.8 kV).
Professional certification or license preferred.
Experience with CAD, PDM, and simulation software.
Familiarity with applicable industry standards.
Skills and Abilities Strong technical reading and writing skills (e.g., standards, reports, white papers).
Effective verbal communication with internal teams and external customers.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving using statistical and engineering tools.
Ability to interpret complex technical instructions and abstract variables.
Self-motivated with a drive to learn and apply new skills in a fast-paced environment.
