Senior Desktop Engineer | Boston | Up to $120k / year + 20% Bonus

Work Schedule : 8am - 4pm (Monday to Friday)

JOB SUMMARY

Looking for a Desktop Engineer to join an Investment Management firm to join a team of 4 support staff providing Tier 1-3 support for 300+ users in their Boston and global offices. Ideal candidate would be someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is able to build a rapport with clients as well as being eager to learn and grow.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Help internal team members by troubleshooting and resolving a variety of technical issues in a friendly, efficient way.
  • Take responsibility for the tickets you handle, set clear expectations, and make sure users always know what to expect; offer tips or training when it can help them work more effectively.
  • When an issue needs to be escalated, involve the right technical teams but continue to stay engaged and keep the user updated throughout the process.
  • Become knowledgeable in the systems and tools the organization relies on, and handle regular maintenance, updates, and administrative tasks.
  • Take part in the teams development and change management processes to help ensure updates and system changes are carried out smoothly and safely.
  • Create or enhance automationusing scripts or other toolsto simplify routine tasks and improve the overall quality and efficiency of day-to-day operations.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • A genuine team player with a history of supporting and collaborating with colleagues to help the whole group succeed.
  • Hands-on experience with at least three of the following technologies : Citrix, Active Directory, Azure, Windows 11, Networking, SCCM or Intune, Webex or Teams, Exchange / Outlook, or PowerShell.
  • Able to work comfortably with both customers and teammates in in-office and remote environments.
  • Strong communication skillsboth written and verbaland the ability to work independently while keeping customers informed with clear, proactive updates.
  • A solid understanding of technology across multiple layers (infrastructure through applications), plus awareness of security practices, databases, and cloud concepts; Azure certifications, scripting experience, or similar credentials are a bonus.
  • Approaches challenges with creativity, always looking for new ways to improve existing processes or build better ones.
  • Stays current on industry trends and best practices, actively seeking training and learning opportunities.
  • Brings strong analytical thinking, excellent organization, and careful attention to detail, with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple requests.
  • Experience in financial services, managed service provider (MSP) environments, or legal / professional services settings is strongly preferred.
