As a Railcar Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for inspecting servicing repairing and maintaining diesel locomotives to ensure safe and efficient operation. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues perform preventative maintenance and work with a variety of tools and equipment in diverse working conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify mechanical issues in diesel engines air brakes and running gear.
- Use hand tools and power tools to repair or replace defective parts.
- Conduct routine inspections and servicing to ensure locomotives remain in optimal working condition.
- Analyze and resolve both electrical and mechanical problems.
- Follow all railroad safety and operating rules and regulations.
- Perform duties in various conditions including adverse weather and train yard environments
Qualifications
High school diploma / GED and vocational training in related fieldPrior experience working with diesel locomotives or in a similar mechanical roleFamiliarity with diesel engines air brakes and locomotive componentsSkilled in using hand tools power tools and welding equipmentStrong ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issuesCapable of lifting heavy objects working in confined spaces and handling the physical demands of the jobCommitted to maintaining a safe work environment and following safety protocolsEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to collaborate with team members and supervisorsReliable punctual and able to follow instructions and work rulesMust be willing to relocate to San Bernardino CA if applicableBenefits
