American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position requiring cardiac drip titration and strong floating skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Telemetry Float Pool within an acute care hospital settingFloat among all Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, Neuro Tele, MedSurg units, and occasionally to ICU and holding areas, including Cath Lab, ER, and observation floorExpected to float between two campuses located 9 miles apart, with notification given 1.5 hours prior to shift startPatient ratios in Telemetry and Neuro units range from 1 : 3-4; MedSurg units have a 1 : 4 ratio12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am) with a requirement to work 4 weekend shifts per schedule and 2 of 3 major holidaysPatient population includes post cath lab, post vascular, CABG, neuro post-surgical, CVA post TPA, ortho, surgical, and oncology patients aged 15 and olderAll units use centralized telemetry monitoring, and RNs must interpret EKGs; GE Monitors are used in MedSurg unitsCharting is done using the Cerner EMR systemNo vent management requiredRNs are first to float and may be assigned to any Tele or MedSurg unit, including mid-shift floating as necessaryThe role involves working with a collaborative team including charge nurses (without patient assignments), clinical supervisors, PCTs, RT, and pharmacy staff available 24 / 7Must wear navy scrubs as the dress code for all unitsHoliday coverage required for 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignmentMust pass a sterile technique skills assessment (Foley catheter and central line dressing) on the first day of orientationCandidates who fail the required pre-assignment exams may be ineligible to work in the region for 6 monthsAssignment includes floor-specific orientation for 2 shifts in each unitNo pediatric patients; patient age is 15 and olderLocal candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates (based on driver's license address)\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license (state or Compact / NLC) required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedMinimum of 2 years recent experience as an RNAbility to titrate cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine, and CardizemMust pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam prior to contract signing, with a maximum of 2 attemptsMust pass a simulation lab on day one of orientationExperience interpreting EKG rhythms requiredMust provide a recent supervisor reference from the past 12 months, as well as a peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 yearsMust submit a copy of driver’s license for considerationCandidates may not have been directly employed by a CommonSpirit facility in the past year\n Benefits\n
