Job Title : Controller
Overview : A growing manufacturing company is seeking a hands-on Controller to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to build and shape an accounting department, with plans to add staff and modernize systems. The company has experienced significant revenue growth in recent years and operates in a stable industry with long-term contracts. The role includes involvement in ASC 606 adoption, potential system upgrades, and participation in future expansion projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, treasury, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and tax functions
- Establish and enhance best practices for daily tasks and month-end close processes within the accounting team
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements
- Manage financial and government audits
- Handle budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
- Perform cost accounting and manage inventory-related accounting functions
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, identify deficiencies, and implement improvements
- Recruit, develop, and train accounting staff as needed
- Collaborate with external advisors for audits, tax matters, and other financial engagements
- Lead initiatives and projects aligned with the company’s strategic business goals
Qualifications :
Minimum 8 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacityPreferably 2+ years of experience in public accounting; CPA designation is a plusRequired exposure to the manufacturing industrySolid background in cost accountingProven ability to implement best practices within an accounting functionProfessional demeanor with a proactive mindset for driving positive changeStrong analytical skills and ability to develop and execute plans for a growing business environmentExcellent communication skillsFamiliarity with DOD / government contracts and DCAA accounting requirements is highly preferredExperience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageousKnowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9000 quality standards is beneficialPAY TRANSPARENCY : The estimated annual pay range for this position is $175k - $200k + discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will be determined by the hiring authority and may vary depending on qualifications and other factors relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
