Technical Manager - Payment Systems
This is a hands-on leadership role for a seasoned technical professional who’s ready to lead innovation in digital payments. As the Technical Manager you’ll build and guide a newly formed Payment Services team responsible for the systems that power all payment processing — from checks and wires to credit cards and modern payment engines.
You’ll blend your technical expertise with strategic vision to ensure every payment system is stable, secure, and continuously improving to meet evolving business needs.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Innovate : Oversee all technology systems supporting payment services, including Tandem, check, wire, and credit card processing, as well as next-generation digital payment solutions.
Drive Development : Manage software development efforts for both legacy and new payment platforms, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
Own the Roadmap : Build and execute a forward-looking technology roadmap that aligns with business goals and enables future growth.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally : Partner with business product leaders and executive teams to ensure technology initiatives deliver measurable business value.
Empower Your Team : Hire, mentor, and inspire a small development team while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Ensure Excellence : Maintain adherence to programming standards, SLAs, and Agile best practices to deliver high-quality results.
Manage the Backlog : Prioritize work based on ROI, guide sprint planning, and oversee product releases that move the business forward.
What You Bring
Deep technical background as a full-stack Microsoft developer (.NET, C#, SQL).
Experience designing and delivering enterprise systems .
Strong command of Azure DevOps (ADO) and Agile methodologies.
Proven success leading small development teams and managing partner relationships.
Familiarity with payments or financial systems — a strong plus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to bridge business and technology.
Strategic thinker with hands-on leadership style and attention to detail.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of industry experience in IT or software development leadership roles.
Experience leading teams through full software development lifecycles (SDLC).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a creative mindset for continuous improvement.
