BASIC PURPOSE :

Assumption University seeks a dedicated and proactive Title IX and Title VI Coordinator to lead efforts across the University to promote a safe, inclusive, and equitable campus environment. Reporting directly to the General Counsel and Vice President for Strategy, the Title IX and Title VI Coordinator will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and initiatives that foster a culture of prevention and reporting around civil rights matters. This position requires a commitment to preventative education, compliance, and the cultivation of a safe and respectful campus community.

ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Strategic Leadership in Compliance and Culture-Building :

Lead and manage the university's Title IX and Title VI compliance efforts in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Develop policies, procedures, and programs designed to ensure compliance and reinforce a culture of reporting and prevention. Provide subject-matter expertise on the requirements of and compliance with applicable federal and state laws (Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, Campus SaVE, ADA, Section 504 and related federal and state laws).

  • Preventative Education and Training :
  • Design, coordinate, and deliver targeted training programs that raise awareness of rights, responsibilities, and resources related to sexual harassment, sexual violence, and other forms of discrimination and civil rights related issues. Emphasize preventative education as a means to reduce incidents and foster a proactive culture.

  • Reporting and Investigative Functions :
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for reporting and resolving Title IX and Title VI concerns, ensuring a thorough, timely, and impartial response to all reported incidents. Collaborate with relevant offices to offer support and resources to those impacted by harassment and discrimination. Manage a caseload of students, faculty, and staff who have initiated and or are connected to a grievance process or who have submitted a complaint, ensuring timely attention and that records are kept in accordance with University protocol. Conduct through, impartial, and prompt investigations where necessary and / or coordinate with internal or external partners who may be serving as investigators and adjudicators.

  • Campus-Wide Collaboration and Advocacy :
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with campus partners, including the cabinet, campus police, student affairs, human resources, and academic departments, to align prevention and training efforts across the University. Advocate for practices that support survivors, respect privacy, and uphold the University's commitment to safety and equity. Develop, maintain, and sustain partnerships and MOUs with community agencies.

  • Program Development and Outreach :
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to enhance visibility and understanding of Title IX resources, reporting channels, and support services among students, faculty, and staff. Partner with advisory panels and student groups to promote engagement with Title IX initiatives.

  • Data and Program Assessment :
  • Oversee data collection, climate surveys, record-keeping, and reporting to assess the effectiveness of the University's Title IX and other civil rights related programs. Use data to identify trends, inform strategic initiatives, and provide regular reports to university leadership. Maintain records and reports in accordance with the law and institution policies including coordination and assisting campus safety on Clery Act and VAWA-related matters.

    KNOWLEGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current state and federal law and regulations-as well as identified best practices and trends in the field of education-related to discrimination, harassment, disabilities, and sexual misconduct on college campuses.
  • Understanding of the recent developments regarding sexual misconduct and Title IX laws impacting campuses across the country and in Massachusetts specifically.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and presentation skills; capable of effectively conveying complicated and sensitive information to diverse audiences.
  • Professionalism, decorum, and diplomacy in all interactions, with the ability to engage others with respect and empathy, in line with the institution's mission and values.
  • Familiarity with conducting thorough and prompt investigations related to Title IX, discrimination, harassment, and / or employee or student misconduct.
  • Sound judgment, objectivity, and integrity.
  • Talent for listening and facilitating difficult conversations.
  • Facility with trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Understanding of the residential liberal arts college experience and a passion to work collaboratively within a highly consultative campus culture.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Commitment to the mission of the University and respect for its Catholic identity, required.
  • Bachelor's degree, required.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field (such as a law degree), required.
  • Minimum four years of significant Title IX, non-discrimination, dispute resolution, or related experience, required.
  • Minimum two years of leadership and / or management experience, preferred.
  • Experience successfully working with confidential and sensitive information in student conduct- or civil rights- related office or position, required.
  • Strong understanding of student conduct processes and relevant legal considerations, required.
  • Experience working with Maxient or a similar community standards software system, required.
