- Must provide proof of the completion of a minimum of 60 college credit hours, OR in lieu of this, must pass the Paraprofessional Exam.

Current Active Dorchester District Two Substitute.IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Teacher / Administrator JOB SUMMARY : To assist individual students’ needs and to assist in providing a well-organized and smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assist the student(s) to whom assigned in such physical tasks as toileting, transitioning from classroom to classroom, getting on and off the bus.Work with the teachers to help with the instruction of students. (example : help students stay on task by redirecting or praising while teacher teaches).Complete small group instructional activities with student(s) which are planned by the teacher and under the direct supervision of the teacher.Monitor and record behaviors for students with behavior goals or Behavior Intervention Plans.Attend assigned training on Early Release Days, etc.Perform simple tasks for students when necessary (under direction of the teacher) such as sharpening pencils, carrying lunch trays, assisting with putting on or taking off of outerwear (coats for going to recess, clothing necessary to be moved or removed for toileting, etc.)Conducts self in appropriate manner when speaking to students, parents, teachers, fellow support personnel, etc.Accompanied student(s) to the office, nurse’s office, special areas, etc. as necessary.Has an understanding of and follows professional guidelines and expectations to maintain confidentiality and refrain from discussion which would violate FERPA.Will treat all students and staff in an appropriate professional manner.Establishes a supportive and empathetic relationship with the student(s) without fostering or encouraging intense emotional involvement.Refers questions from parents and others in the school setting regarding student(s) to the teacher.May be asked to attend an IEP meeting on student(s) in the assigned classroom if appropriate.Performs all other related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher.
