Assistant Warehouse Manager

The assistant warehouse manager will increase company profitability and customer satisfaction by assisting warehouse manager with overseeing warehouse operations in a safe, secure, efficient and cost-effective manner that complies with company policy and OSHA, DOT and other applicable regulations.

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership and direction to employees daily
  • Participate in performance evaluations
  • Coordinate with supervisors to cover all personnel needs daily
  • Provide efficient and productive communication between departments
  • Ensure and assist in the process that all orders are being expedited in a timely and accurate manner
  • Supervise that all DOT paperwork is completed daily and accurately
  • Propose personnel and equipment needs
  • Monitor safety and procedures within the warehouse setting
  • Take on the responsibilities for inventory accuracy
  • Follow company policies and procedures
  • Other duties or responsibilities assigned by the warehouse manager

Job Requirements

  • Operates forklifts in compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
  • Judgment and decision-making ability

  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Comfortable in fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills

  • Knowledge of logistics, including carriers, shipping policies and procedures
  • Strong leadership, motivation and managerial skills
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Demonstrated competency hiring, developing and evaluating employees to achieve corporate and personal objectives
  • Able to perform business math (basic algebra, compute rate, ratio, etc.)
  • Experience implementing and maintaining safety initiatives
  • Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, inventory / warehouse management and distribution software
  • Education : High school diploma / GED required
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience : Minimum 2 years in similar position preferred
  • Minimum 1 year in progressive position
  • 3 years preferred
  • Wholesale distribution experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
