Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN for an acute care hospital assignment in California, requiring at least 2 years of cath lab experience and an active CA RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Level II trauma acute care hospital catheterization laboratory
  • Unit includes 3 Cath / EP suites and 1 complex IR suite with an average of 8-10 cases per day
  • Patient cases include interventional and diagnostic cardiac procedures, pacer and implant placements, STEMIs, balloon pump, Impella, ECMO, shockwave, and rotablader technologies, as well as EP studies, ablations, watchman, TAVR, trauma, IR, and neuro cases
  • Equipment used includes Balloon Pump, Impella, and Rotablade
  • Cerner and Merge are used for charting
  • Shift is 10-hour days with variable starts, call included, and every other weekend coverage required
  • On-call required : 12-14 call days per 4-week schedule, with call every other weekend (Friday evening through Monday morning), and a 30-minute response time is expected
  • No floating required
  • Scrubs are provided
  • Primary duties include circulating, administering moderate sedation, patient teaching, medication administration, equipment setup, and patient transport
  • Good communication skills and ability to work closely with interventionalists and the cath lab team are essential
  • Self-scheduling is allowed, but requested days off are subject to departmental needs and union seniority rules
  • Candidates must be flexible and willing to occasionally stay beyond scheduled shift for longer cases
  • 2–3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
  • First-time travelers may be considered
  • Holiday call coverage may be required based on unit needs
  • Previous direct employees (full-time, part-time, or PRN) of affiliated facilities within past year are not eligible

    • Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years of cath lab RN experience
  • Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Experience with setup of cath lab equipment such as Balloon Pump, Impella, Rotablade is required
  • Experience in EP, neuro, trauma, and / or complex IR is preferred but willingness to learn these areas will be considered
  • Experience with Cerner EMR and Merge systems is preferred
  • Ability to respond to call shifts within 30 minutes is required
