We are looking for a skilled Tax Analyst to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In this role, you will handle a variety of tax-related tasks, including compliance, audits, and research, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all filings. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and tax planning strategies within a dynamic hospitality industry environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and submit sales, use, and property tax returns, as well as business license applications and renewals.
  • Address and resolve notices related to sales and use tax issues.
  • Analyze aggregator data from platforms like Uber Eats and DoorDash to ensure tax accuracy and compliance.
  • Review discrepancies between calculated sales tax amounts and vendor invoices, ensuring proper adjustments.
  • Collaborate with external service providers to facilitate timely filing and payment of property tax returns and exemptions.
  • Conduct quarterly reconciliations for sales and use tax accounts to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Assist with audits and prepare initial responses for tax assessment adjustments and inquiries.
  • Monitor and update tax compliance software to reflect current sales and use tax regulations.
  • Track and update withholding receipts related to royalties and technology fees.
  • Provide research and recommendations for cost-saving opportunities and tax treatment improvements.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax-related roles, preferably in a corporate or hospitality environment.
  • Proficiency in corporate tax preparation, including sales, use, and payroll taxes.
  • Strong knowledge of annual income tax provisions and commercial collections.
  • Experience with electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments and related processes.
  • Familiarity with foreign withholding forms (e.g., W-8BEN-E) and tax reporting requirements.
  • Ability to conduct detailed tax account analyses and reconciliations.
  • Excellent research skills to stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external providers.
