Benefits Administrator

Job Category : Administration

Job Status : Full-time, exempt

Reports to : Director of Human Resources & Administration

Responsibilities : Administration

  • Aid in the administration of the HRIS system : benefits enrollments, staff status, payroll, eligibility changes,offboarding
  • Accuracy of benefits enrollment providing vendors eligibility information
  • Assist with new-hire orientations, benefits information distribution & meetings
  • Perform quality checks of benefits-related data
  • Assist employees re : benefits claim issues & plan changes
  • Distribute all benefits enrollment materials & determine eligibility
  • Enroll employees with carriers; process life status changes
  • Respond to benefits inquiries from managers & employees on plan provisions, 403b retirement, benefits enrollments, status changes & general inquiries
  • Process / administers all leave-of-absence requests & disability paperwork : medical, personal, disability, FMLA
  • Assist CFO & Director of Human Resources with annual ERISA audit
  • Respond to unemployment claims; attend hearings as needed
  • Respond to / process workers compensation claims, working with both the employee and the workers compensation insurance company
  • Assists with open enrollment process
  • Administer tuition reimbursement program
  • Provides reports for allocation / billing charges
  • Process documents through payroll & insurance providers foraccurate record-keeping & deductions
  • Perform customer service functions
  • Process termination of benefits
  • Clerical duties : making photocopies, correspondence, filing documents
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Legal & Compliance

  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Assists with employee benefits audits to ensure various legal and accreditation compliance standards
  • Submit online investigation requests regarding workers compensation and unemployment claims
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences / disabilities
  • Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems
  • At least two years related experience preferred
