Description
Hampton University, a dynamic historically Black university known for excellence in education and community engagement, invites qualified candidates to apply for a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner & PMHNP position at the Integrative Wellness Center . This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to serve a diverse campus population by delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for acute illnesses and minor health concerns .
Examples of Duties
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for acute illnesses, injuries, and episodic health issues to university students, faculty, and staff.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage common medical conditions within the scope of practice.
- Utilize a holistic, patient-centered approach to care that includes education, prevention, and wellness strategies.
- Prescribe medications and therapies consistent with state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, confidential electronic medical records in compliance with HIPAA and institutional policies.
- Collaborate with the Wellness Center team including physicians, counselors, and other health professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in campus-wide health initiatives, wellness programs, and student engagement events.
- Uphold the values of Hampton University and contribute to an inclusive, supportive care environment.
- All other duties as assigned by the Dean
Typical Qualifications
Education : Master's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.Licensure :Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the Commonwealth of Virginia .
Autonomous Practice Designation approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing (required).Experience : Minimum of five (5) years of clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner / PMHNP, with demonstrated expertise in managing acute mental and primary care needs.Certifications : Current certification as an FNP and PMHNP through AANP or ANCC; BLS / CPR certification required.Cultural competence and commitment to applying the skills of diversity, equity, and inclusion in each patient-family encounter.Exhibit passion for infusing wellness, education, and preventive care in an integrative care practiceMission-Driven Work : Be a part of a community that values whole-person wellness and student success.Supportive Environment : Collaborate with professionals passionate about health equity and integrative care.Professional Growth : Opportunity for achieving continuing education, campus involvement, and leadership in health initiatives.Supplemental Information
This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon the continuation of related grant funding.
