Assistant Project Manager – Architecture & Construction

Summary / Objective

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of architectural and construction projects. You will create and review construction and architectural documents, ensure compliance with codes and standards, and collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for design, technical precision, and project execution. This is not a design role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop construction documents (blueprints, schematics etc) from pre-designed plans
  • Coordinate with Draftspersons to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools to produce detailed layouts and diagrams.
  • Interpret and apply state and local building codes and compliance standards.
  • Conduct technical research using handbooks, guidelines, and landlord documentation.
  • Prepare documentation for project approvals and manage bidding processes.
  • Maintain organized records of project files, reports, and surveys.
  • Perform site surveys as needed to support project planning and execution.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements and resolve issues.
  • Ensure adherence to architectural standards and guidelines.
  • Provide ongoing architectural support to Project Managers across multiple projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Job Captain in an architectural firm.
  • Strong understanding of construction data, engineering drawings, and calculations.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with SketchUp, Photoshop, or Illustrator is a plus.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with retail or commercial construction documentation preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
