Job Title : Quality Inspector – Food Manufacturing

Location : Bright-eyed

Department : Quality Assurance

Reports To : Director of Operation

Schedule : 10am to 6pm (Weekend Availability)

Status : Full-Time

Position Summary :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly responsible Quality Inspector to join our growing food manufacturing team. This role is critical to ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of a diverse portfolio of products including chocolates, kitchen-prepared foods, re-packaged dry goods, oils, spices, syrups, coffee, nuts, tea, rice, ice cream, new dishes, juices, and more. The ideal candidate will uphold rigorous food safety standards, conduct thorough inspections, and support continuous improvement in line with regulatory requirements and internal quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform routine and random inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods across all product categories.
  • Ensure all products meet established quality specifications, including taste, appearance, weight, temperature, packaging integrity, and labeling accuracy.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and sanitation checks, ensuring adherence to HACCP, GMPs, and other food safety protocols.
  • Monitor equipment and production lines for proper operation and cleanliness; report any non-compliance or deviations.
  • Complete and maintain accurate inspection records, logs, and quality documentation.
  • Support traceability and lot control by verifying product codes, batch records, and documentation throughout the facility.
  • Collect and test samples for microbiological, physical, and chemical parameters as required.
  • Escalate any product defects, contamination risks, or critical issues immediately to supervisors or the Quality Manager.
  • Collaborate with production, warehouse, and kitchen teams to maintain quality awareness and ensure compliance during all shifts.
  • Participate in internal audits, third-party inspections, and corrective action follow-ups.
  • Assist with training employees on basic food safety practices and quality procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement and help drive initiatives that reduce waste and improve consistency and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college-level coursework or certification in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of quality inspection or food safety experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and FDA / USDA regulations.
  • Ability to work in cold, hot, or humid environments and handle a fast-paced, multi-product operation.
  • Excellent observational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to document accurately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and comfortable with using inspection tools and digital systems.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus. But not required.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in environments ranging from freezers to hot kitchens.
  • Comfortable wearing PPE and following safety protocols at all times.
