Salary : $23.00 - $26.00

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Demonstrates competency in administering medical procedures for the treatment of pre-surgical screening.
  • Demonstrates competency in performing medical procedures in accordance with individual client and physician protocols for surgical procedures.
  • Performs administrative tasks in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Provides high-quality service to patients, client companies, provider offices, and Dameron Hospital.
  • Must be able to perform duties in all patient care and operational areas, subject to reasonable accommodations. Must also be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures.
  • Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include wearing a respirator.

This is a non-union position.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have a certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assisting course.
  • Experience :

  • Six (6) months to one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Licenses / Certificates :

  • Medical Assistant License (CMA, RMA, or CCMA)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician License (issued by the CA Dept. of Public Health Laboratory Field Services) preferred
  • ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Review the visit worksheet to determine medical services needed.
  • Ensure all required forms are fully completed by the patient.
  • Obtain vital signs (e.g., height, weight, blood pressure, pulse) and perform all necessary tests before the patient is seen by the clinician.
  • Perform and demonstrate competency in the following procedures, if certified, in accordance with departmental training standards :
  • a. Electrocardiograms (EKG)

    b. Dipstick urinalysis

    c. Vision testing Snellen and Ishihara

  • Assist in treatment of patients under medical provider direction. Demonstrate competency in the following procedures :
  • a. Maintain sterile technique

    b. Setup suture and other procedure trays

    c. Wound cleaning, preparation, and dressing

    d. Placement of splints and braces

    e. Eye irrigation

    f. Ear lavage

  • At patient discharge :
  • a. Ensure all tests and examination procedures have been completed

  • Perform the following administrative tasks as needed :
  • a. Answer telephones and schedule appointments

    b. Register patients in the Athena EHR system

    c. Log patient arrival and departure times to monitor service delivery time

    d. Log Point-of-Care testing in the appropriate logbook

  • Frequently monitor examination and testing rooms to ensure cleanliness and adequate stocking.
  • Ensure all clinical supplies are fully stocked in all exam and screening rooms.
  • Notify the supervisor immediately of any issues requiring urgent attention.
  • Work independently at a fast pace with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously both in person and over the phone.
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to assist patients and fellow staff.
  • Type accurately at a minimum of 25 WPM.
  • Use and articulate medical terminology clearly.
  • Handle conflicts in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
