SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION :
Provides medical care to the Agency’s behavioral health programs. Duties include interviewing clients to screen for medical problems, health monitoring, injections and education, along with coordinating referrals for follow up with medical offices. Duties also include individual and group services regarding health and behavioral health relationship issues.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Performs general nursing duties including daily medical observation and assessment of health status, injections, blood draws if needed, assessment of labs and medical reports received, pharmacy questions, etc. Reviews with psychiatrist / NP and counselor as necessary and responds accordingly
- Provides leadership / oversight in scheduling of clinic appointments as medically necessary
- Assesses medically the reports of non-RN staff for medical concerns and responds accordingly
- Provides leadership in all medical crises including first aid, CPR, etc on-site and direction for off-site
- Conducts health assessments on all admitted clients and recommends action or responds accordingly
- Provides health / medical related leadership and services in health areas
- Participates as a member of assessment and rehab planning teams
- Appropriate documentation
- Continually assesses and provides for the Evidenced Based needs including metabolic, cardiac, EPS, nicotine, drug, alcohol, and trauma
- Responsible for maintaining needles, medications and medical waste / waste pickup in accordance with Agency policy
- Performs other duties as assigned
