Lab Technician

Apex Systems is seeking to add a Lab Technician to our esteemed microbiology and food oriented client located in Branford, CT. We intend to screen and schedule interviews for qualified candidates as early as this week.

Title : Lab Technician

Rate : $21 / hr. (overtime of "time and a half" when / if applicable)

Hours : M-F normal business hours

Location : Branford, CT

Summary : Must have a passion for operations and a background in microbiology and / or molecular biology to facilitate a smooth workflow in the laboratory. Prior experience working with BSL-2 pathogens, with inventory management, and with data curation is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities :

• Execute a variety of microbiological methods to generate customer data.
• Perform hands on or machine-assisted sample preparation including dissections, filtration, and centrifugation.
• Run manual or semi-automated diagnostic methods including but not limited to plates and PCR-based assays.
• Maintain sample integrity and traceability to enable multiple diagnostic tests per sample, and banking or shipping externally for downstream analysis (sequencing, serotyping).
• Troubleshoot and escalate challenges encountered in day-to-day operations.
• Assist with verification and validation studies of new assays or instrumentation, supporting new product development and matrix extensions.
• Thoroughly follow established SOPs and maintain records for traceability.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to improve lab efficiency, quality, and customer value.
