The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support the PCS SCOR EI application. The contractor will enhance system functionality by modifying existing Java applications, updating business logic, extending user interfaces, and enhancing reporting capabilities. The developer will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve the SCOR system, ensuring high performance, security, and code quality across multiple environments.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain software solutions based on defined business requirements and technical specifications.
- Modify existing Java code, user interfaces, and business logic to support PCS SCOR EI application updates.
- Extend system data models and reporting capabilities using tools such as Crystal Reports and Power BI.
- Participate in application maintenance, enhancements, and defect resolution.
- Perform peer code reviews and unit testing using JUnit to ensure quality and coverage standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
- Document solutions, workflows, and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with business users and IT teams to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Maintain compliance with agency security policies and procedures.
- Participate in on-call support rotation as required.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications :
8+ years of Java development experience with strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills.8+ years of experience developing applications on the J2EE platform.8+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries for relational databases.8+ years of experience developing RESTful web services using Spring framework.8+ years of experience using Spring AOP for transaction management and security.8+ years of experience in unit testing with JUnit.Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile practices.Preferred Qualifications :
4+ years of experience with Angular or similar UI frameworks.4+ years of experience with Crystal Reports.4+ years of experience with Power BI.Prior experience working in government or healthcare-related IT environments.Work Location and Schedule :
