We are currently expanding our pool of talented professionals in the Norfolk, VA area to support upcoming projects. All candidates must be US-based and eligible to pass relevant background checks for work in secure environments.

Role Requires Local Presence (Norfolk, VA Commuting Distance)

This role requires the ability to be onsite in the Norfolk, VA area, potentially on short notice, to handle physical tasks, emergency support, and direct interaction with client infrastructure.

Location : Norfolk, VA (Primarily remote with on-call onsite requirements)

Job Type : Part-Time / On-Call / Variable Hours / Task-Order Based

Note : This position that is expected to begin on 7 / 15 / 2025, pending contract award.

Requirements

  • Key Responsibilities :

Provide on-call support for cybersecurity incident response activities when tasked, including investigation, containment, and remediation support.

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using vendor-provided tools and assist in prioritizing remediation efforts.
  • Analyze security logs (from various sources, potentially high volume) and alerts to identify and investigate suspicious activity.
  • Support responses to regulatory security audits (e.g., TSA, DHS).
  • Assist in developing and refining security monitoring rules and alerts.
  • Stay current with emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities relevant to critical infrastructure.
  • Available for onsite support in Norfolk, VA, during significant security incidents or audit preparations.
  • Required Qualifications :
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a cybersecurity analyst or incident response role.

  • Strong understanding of common attack vectors, threat intelligence, and incident response methodologies.
  • Experience with security tools such as SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and security architecture.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Ability to travel to Norfolk, VA, for critical security engagements.
  • Preferred Qualifications :
  • Certifications such as Security+, CySA+, GCIH, CEH.

  • Experience in environments with compliance requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, NIST).
  • Familiarity with cloud security concepts.
  • We offer a competitive hourly rate, with the final offer taking into account factors such as years of experience, education level, and any relevant professional certifications.

    Salary Description

    45.13 - $52.75
