Position Summary :

Under the direction of Plant Manager, this position will have the technical expertise in support of CAD Design in our Plastic Division. Products lines include Prototype and Production injection molds, blow molds, compression tools and thermoforming tools. This role will also supervise the day-to-day activities of the CAD Department.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Create and control CAD files, supporting documentation, and prints.
  • Collaborate and communicate with our engineering team as well as customers and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with and consult direct reports to design, lay out, and detail all mold and tooling designs.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Suggest modification and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
  • Follow company policies and procedures and employment laws and regulations to supervise the day-to-day activities of the CAD Operators.  Discuss disciplinary issues with Plant Manager and / or HR before administering.
  • Ensure CAD Designers follow Safety and Attendance policies and procedures.
  • Schedule all design work within department.

Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent., Associate’s degree  or Technical Certificate from CAD Program preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Injection Mold Design.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage a CAD department with multiple direct reports.
  • Create DFM’s “design for manufacturing” PowerPoints that will be shared with customers.
  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of tooling for plastic molded parts.
  • Familiar with CNC machining, EDM, Waterjet and thermoforming.
