The Event Services Technician is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the setup, operation, and breakdown of audiovisual (AV) equipment for events held across Fairfield University. Working under the direction of the Technical Manager and Senior Event Services staff, this role ensures all AV components are in place and functioning for lectures, performances, meetings, and campus-wide events. The technician will work directly with audio, video, lighting, and projection systems, providing responsive and professional support before, during, and after events. This position includes frequent evening and weekend hours and requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn on the job. It is an ideal opportunity for individuals interested in building a career in live event production or AV technology.
Essential Responsibilities :
Assist with the setup, operation, and strike of AV equipment including speakers, microphones, projectors, lighting fixtures, and cabling.
Support live event operations by running basic AV systems, monitoring sound levels, and troubleshooting common equipment issues.
Provide on-site technical assistance to clients and presenters, ensuring equipment is functioning as expected.
Work alongside the Event Services team to ensure smooth execution of campus events in lecture halls, auditoriums, and multipurpose venues.
Participate in sound checks and equipment testing prior to events to verify functionality and performance.
Assist in the transport, storage, and basic maintenance of AV equipment.
Learn and adhere to established safety and operational protocols related to AV systems and live event environments.
Maintain professionalism and excellent customer service while interacting with faculty, staff, students, and guests.
Work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays as needed to support scheduled events.
