UW Medical Center-Northwest- Digestive Health has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C) to join our brand-new, state-of-the-art outpatient suite.

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week)

Monday-Friday

Day Shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

This position will work at our brand-new outpatient endoscopy suite in North Seattle . Our outpatient suite has 2 rooms and 12 admit / recovery bays (has 4 procedure rooms). MA's provide support for GI and Nephrology clinic patients.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records

Perform injections

Prepare and clean exam rooms

Submit medication prior authorizations

Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider

Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers

Assist provider with procedures and medical exams

Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values

Assist in transporting patients as required

REQUIREMENTS

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation boardOR equivalent

Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and / or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment

Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
