General Summary :
The Office RN is responsible for providing quality, compassionate care to patients in a physician's office or clinic setting consistent with the policies and procedures set by the organization. The Office RN provides care for complex patients and participates with the Providers and clinical staff to improve the quality of care in the clinical area. Office Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, evaluating and documenting nursing care of patients in accordance with physician and clinic policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under his / her direction.
Main Responsibilities :
Use patient first values in assisting patients with needsGreet patients with compassion and a friendly faceTake and record vital signs of patient using electronic medical recordsPrepare patients for examinationsDispose of contaminated supplies / used itemsSterilize medical instruments as neededEnsure that exam rooms are clean and stocked for patient useMaintain supplies and equipment, ensure to work with co-workers to stockAttend nurse meetings and other educational opportunities"Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications as needed for patients having procedures or testsPick up vaccines and other medications as neededMail normal labs to patients and call patients with abnormal labsPerform customer service checks on patients every 10 minutesChange sharps container and biohazard trashEnsure to follow policies and procedures set by Holston Medical GroupMaintain communication with providers to ensure that patents needs are taken care ofCommunicate all office issues with the Nurse Manager and Office ManagerEnsure that equipment is in operating order (crash cart, defibrillator, autoclave, etc.)Mentor new nursing staff and orient to the officeEnsure that the Health Department records are maintained for the vaccinations for childrenMaintain clinical area to meet site visit standardsUtilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of patients assigned to his or her careAssist physician in surgery if specialty area requiresConduct patient education sessions as directed related to patient careAssist Office Nurses with tasks and provide guidanceMaintain strict confidentiality in all matters relating to personnel and patient PHI (Protected Health Information)May be moved to other offices upon request based upon the business need of Holston Medical Group on an occasional basisEducation / Experience / Knowledge :
Associates Degree in Nursing or BS in Nursing RequiredRN license by the state in which employed2-3 years experienceCPR certifiedExperience within specialty group or surgical area preferredMust possess excellent communication skillsAbility to work in a team environment and collaborate with othersKey Competencies :
