LOCATION : ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the job of the Engineering Tech will be responsible for generating technical drawings for new machinery or improving existing machine designs.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
- Run test on products and equipment to ensure they function properly.
- Provide suggestion for possible ways to improve product and equipment.
- Assist in drawing up blueprints and plans for products and equipment.
- Inspect and modify existing designs and prototypes.
- Analyze operations and offering suggestions for improvement.
- Utilize SolidWorks solid modeling software used in conjunction with data management software interfaced with Macola mainframe.
- Also uses AutoCAD drafting software to perform drafting work requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques. Computer-aided drawings produced include assembly, weldment, and detail drawings.
- Create drawings using recognized engineering systems of symbols, legends, shadings and lines in AutoCAD.
- Work with sketches, marked-up prints and verbal instructions given by design originator to prepare engineering drawings for shop use in manufacturing products.
- Use initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise to contribute any ideas to original designer.
- Check personal work to ensure anticipated problems in manufacturing assembly, installation, and operation are resolved.
- Engineering Manager or other Engineering Co-worker double checks structural, dimensions, format, shop capabilities, and raw materials.
- Generate plots to print or copy machine to print finished drawings. Also generates ECN to document changes.
- Wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- The Engineering Tech or Designer / Detailer is responsible for certain internal control responsibilities. These internal control responsibilities have been verbally communicated to the Engineering Tech or Designer / Detailer and periodic feedback is provided as it relates to performance of internal control responsibilities.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are :
Two-year technical degree a plus . Minimum of four (4) years in a manufacturing environment preferred.SolidWorks, ProE or any 3-D software experience and / or understanding of Macola mainframe a plus.Knowledge of manufacturing processes a plus.Candidate must be able to handle multiple projects with multiple priorities.Must be able to handle sudden changes in project / priority, as indicated by Engineering Manager.PC skills required include AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.Must have knowledge of engineering systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Aptitude to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Supervisor and Leadership Expectations

Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and / or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
