Job Title : CMM Programmer – Aerospace

Position Summary

The CMM Programmer is responsible for programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect machined aerospace parts. This role documents inspection results, manages non-conformance records, and collaborates on problem-solving to identify and implement rework requirements. The position also supports the development and maintenance of the company’s quality system to meet internal, regulatory, customer, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Program and operate CMMs, revising programs to maximize accuracy, efficiency, and throughput.

Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) to AS9102 and contractual requirements.

Document approvals and record non-conforming parts, initiating disposition processes as needed.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing-related issues and identify root causes.

Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance inspection quality and efficiency.

Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders to address inspection findings, errors, and rework requirements.

Provide quality and / or manufacturing process training to manufacturing personnel.

Maintain regular on-site attendance and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience

5–10 years of technical machining, programming, or related experience, with at least 2–3 years in quality assurance.

Minimum 3 years of CMM programming experience using PC-DMIS.

Aerospace industry experience strongly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

Familiarity with AS9100, FAA requirements, and industry quality system standards.

Proficiency in blueprint reading, interpreting engineering documentation, and applying quality standards.

Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments (mics, calipers, height gauges, etc.).

Advanced mathematical skills, including fractions and decimals.

Understanding of problem-solving techniques (SQC, SPC) and experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is a plus.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word); ERP system experience preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Education

High school diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent education / experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. using equipment or assistance.

Climbing, bending, crawling, stooping, squatting, or kneeling as needed.

Visual acuity to read precision instruments and distinguish colors.

Frequent verbal and written communication in English.

Work Environment

Manufacturing shop setting with exposure to high noise levels (hearing protection required).

Possible exposure to dust, smoke, fumes / vapors, and extreme temperatures.

Proximity to hazardous equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and machining tools.
