POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Operating Officer will take responsibility for the company’s daily Underwriting, Customer Service, Agency Management and Claims (including claim litigation) operations. The Chief Operating Officer will be charged with establishing new processes and procedures while simultaneously fine-tuning existing ones, and examining methods of making the corporation’s Underwriting, Customer Service, Agency Management, and Claims operations more effective and efficient. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works with others within the company and with outside vendors to successfully complete projects. This is a full-time position. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 am- 4 : 00 pm, although there is some flexibility in hours within the confines of the job requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compelling leadership
- Must have the ability to manage senior company Underwriting and Claims leaders and help articulate and drive the company’s core capabilities.

- Strong Managerial credentials with a bottom-line orientation Expected to manage, direct, coach, and mentor his / her charges while concurrently managing employee expectations and accountability.
- Must demonstrate clear and assertive communication skills.
- Provides supervision, direction, development, and leadership to direct reports. Provides guidance and training to accomplish company goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, development of a training program for underwriting and claims, and employee development.
- Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships, setting examples for others.
- Supports project teams in processing quality activities by educating, coaching and mentoring others on process improvement philosophy, tools and application. Looks for ways to streamline processes and resources.
- Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policies. Ensures direct reports are adhering to company policies and administering practices in a fair and equitable manner. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
- Sets examples for their and other departments.
- Provides leadership and management to ensure that the mission and core values of the company are put into practice.
- Directs the activities of the Departments through direct reports. Fosters a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
- Spearheads the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
- Enhance and / or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation. Exercises independent judgment and discretion in performance of duties and responsibilities.

- This position is subject to occasional business related travel that includes driving. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is required to write; reach with hands; and key frequently on a computer for long periods of time (4 or more hours per day).

Minimum 10 years of upper level management experience required.Must have over 15 years of executive-level experience in the operation of property and casualty insurance.Must have 8-10 years of Underwriting and Claims Insurance experience.EDUCATION
