JOB SUMMARY

This Internship is 100% onsite and takes place year-round with a flexible schedule for students.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completing transformer mechanical drawings based on the internal and external layout, standard practices, and / or from technical advisories.
  • Calculating dimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures or general design knowledge of shop capabilities when standard procedures do not exist. Verifying and updating drawings.
  • Providing technical support and training of others.
  • Assisting the supervisor in the planning and scheduling of the design and detailing processes.
  • Assisting on development projects as requested by supervisor. This may also include completion of standard processes or practices and computer programs.
  • Recommending and developing new procedures to improve the efficiency of the detailing process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of 3D software
  • Excellent process and problem solving skills
  • An understanding of drafting procedures
  • An excellent team player with strong people skills; ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation
  • Computer skills : highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ProE

    • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Required Education / Experience

  • Currently pursuing Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Drafting and Design or related field
  • Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, with assistance as required for design questions or technical problem.

    • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    Key Working Relationships

  • Engineering Organization, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and applications engineering groups
  • Operations Management, including plant Supervision, Quality, Planning, etc.

    • Physical Demands

    Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

    Working Conditions

    Shop-floor and office environment, located on large manufacturing campus
