CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant, LTACH Stepdown Days

Summary : Provide essential patient care by assisting with daily activities and monitoring patient conditions. Maintain a clean and well-stocked patient environment while supporting nursing staff in delivering quality care.

Major Responsibilities :

• Assist with patient admissions, including orientation to unit routines and equipment.
• Respond promptly to patient needs, either directly or by notifying appropriate personnel.
• Support the nursing care plan by performing delegated tasks.
• Ensure patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies.
• Manage medication and supply retrieval for patient care.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas.
• Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging.
• Engage in educational and performance improvement activities.
• Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency.
• Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction and efficient patient throughput.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Nursing Assistant certification mandatory. Current registration with the appropriate state nursing assistant registry required.

Experience : No prior experience necessary; on-the-job training provided.

Skills and Abilities : Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and write English. Flexibility in work tasks and schedules. Basic computer proficiency. Understanding of age-specific patient care considerations.

Physical Requirements : Ability to work variable shifts with frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient turning. Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient observation. Exposure to blood and body fluids possible, requiring adherence to safety protocols.

Licenses and Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association and current Nursing Assistant certification.
