The Field Premium Auditor will work remotely and based out of California.

Under minimal supervision, the Premium Auditor is responsible for performing complex workers' compensation and general liability audits by examining financial records and business operations of policyholders, documenting audit findings, calculating risk exposures and ensuring audits are completed pursuant to rating bureau rules and state law. This position must maintain high ethical standards in maintaining the integrity of the rating system.

Responsibilities :

  • Engages with policyholders to review their financial records, payroll registers and other relevant documents. Ensures the accuracy of premium calculations by examining ledgers, state / federal wage reports, financial statements and relevant accounting records.
  • Analyzes business operations to determine the appropriate risk classifications for the policy.
  • Documents audit findings including change in operations, risk exposures and claims review.
  • Maintains a record of all communications with policyholders in our electronic audit inventory system.
  • Proactively engages with policyholders and agents to ensure mutual understanding of rules and regulations that impact premium basis.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from external customers (i.e., agents and insureds) and internal customers with information to assist in their understanding of audit-related matters, including audit compliance, procedures, and worksheets.
  • Remains informed of changes and current information relative to premium auditing through WCIRB, independent rating bureaus, NCCI, or other industry resources.
  • Utilizes laptop and peripheral technology to organize, schedule and complete audits.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements :

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, risk management or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a premium auditor with carrier or vendor experience.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of WCIRB, NCCI and Independent Bureau resources such as Basic and Scopes manuals.
  • General Liability and Auto Dealers premium audit experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Insurance designations such as APA a plus.
  • The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded.
