Job Responsibilities :

• Lays out, fits, aligns, and assembles prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations.
• Performs fitting and machining operations such as straighten, grind, burr, drill, ream, and countersink materials to close tolerances.
• Refers to general instructions to select equipment, set up, and lay out materials to be welded.
• May repair or rework parts to restore to required tolerances which have become distorted as a result of welding operations.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• SHIP FITTER experience / shipyard REQUIRED Prior Shipyard
• Prior Shipyard Experience of 1 to 5 years.
• Confined space trained B.
• Hazard communication trained
• Respirator trained and qualified.
• Fall Protection / 4-D Body Harness-Vertical & Horizontal Lifelines-Beam Clamp trained and qualified
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE
• training
• Non-prescription and prescription safety glasses must meet the requirements of ANSI Z87, with permanently attached side shields.
• All Leased Labor personnel engaged in Welding must wear either the Fiber Metal Type 1 Class C or the MSA Skullgard Class A Hard Hat only.
• Hearing protection must be of the muff type (banded or mounted) and must have been trained on their use.
• Foot protection must be 8” safety boots or leather safety shoes w / spats.
• Coveralls must be flame resistant with long sleeves.
• Audiometric testing which documents proof of individual worker's hearing function. .
• The physical work effort expected is demanding. The temperature and humidity extremes that may be encountered are the result of ambient temperature and humidity levels in the work area.
• Hexavalent Chromium medical examinations and clearances.
• Full welding jacket.
• Welding shield leather bib.
• PPE training means general requirements, eye and face protection, head protection, foot protection, hand and body protection, hearing protection, and body harness-personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) and position device systems.
