About your team / Ko te tīma Led by the Manager Data Operations, the Data Operations team includes one data architect, a data engineer, two data scientists, and four regulatory intelligence analysts. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the data assets to meet WorkSafe's data, insights and intelligence needs The team is going through an exciting period of transformation as we work to adopt modern data operations ways of working – and explore ways of combining the varied disciplines within the team to create something greater than the sum of our parts. About the role / Ō te tūranga In this role you will lead the development of WorkSafe's enterprise data model – bringing together multiple data sets in a newly established data management platform. You will work with a data engineer, data scientists, and data analyst to make these models a reality – taking a leading role in ensuring pipelines are designed in a way that is fit for purpose, automated and cost-efficient. You'll provide strategic direction for data management practices, establish governance frameworks, and create scalable architectural solutions that balance compliance with business needs. - Create and maintain data flow diagrams and architectural documentation
- Develop and maintain the enterprise data architecture strategy and roadmap
- Design scalable data models that support both regulatory reporting and business intelligence needs and champion the data governance needed to make them a reality
- Provide peer review and mentoring to data engineers / developers
- Co-ordinate with solution architects, platform engineers and other stakeholders to ensure the Data Management Platform is built to meet WorkSafe's current and future insights and intelligence needs
- Lead and mentor users to adopt into a Azure-based products and solution stack. What You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu
- Strong data architecture background applied in a practical way
- Strong data engineering capabilities
- Cost management and code optimisation expertise in a Cloud based solution
- Advanced data modelling and database design capabilities
- Experience using MS Azure data services and associated tools
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering or a related role

Salary range / Awhe utu As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $138,259 to $182,456, and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $138,259 to $152,991. Note : KiwiSaver / SSRSS employer contribution is additional to / on top of your base salary.
