BWD Search is partnered with a West Coast-based Health Insurer as we are seeking an individual contributor who will play a crucial role in assessing financial risk for our organization. The primary responsibilities include conducting research, aligning actuarial documentation with financial reports and tax returns, developing product line evaluations and actuarial models, and analyzing financial risks and opportunities.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Practice self-leadership and promote a learning culture by building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, providing advice, and influencing team members. Adapt to new responsibilities and competing demands, provide feedback to others, and capitalize on strengths while developing weaknesses.
- Conduct business-specific projects, ensuring adherence to procedures and policies. Develop work plans, coordinate resources, solve complex problems, and evaluate recommendations.
- Complete actuarial documentation by reviewing financial reports, tax returns, and responses to insurance regulations. Present results internally to mid-level leadership.
- Develop product line evaluations by interpreting analysis findings, reserve and valuation data, and cash flow analysis. Assess product line performance, risk, and assumptions for product development.
- Design and conduct actuarial research, advancing standards, assumptions, and legal / regulatory understanding.
- Assess, analyze, and interpret financial risks and opportunities using non-traditional actuarial methods and judgment.
- Collaborate with business partners, translating complex actuarial concepts into actionable recommendations and providing accurate actuarial and financial advice in compliance with standards.
- Create frameworks and assumptions for new, existing, and non-traditional actuarial models to meet business needs.
Minimum Qualifications :
2+ years of Actuarial experience.Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field AND a minimum of eight (8) years of actuarial experience. Equivalent work experience in a related field may be substituted for the degree requirement.Associate of the Society of Actuaries Certificate OR Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society Certificate.
