Description

Hennepin County's Children & Family Services is seeking two Social Worker / Senior Social Workers to be assigned to children placed in foster care, children placed through the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC), and Permanent Custody to the Agency youth. One position will be assigned to the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) unit. These positions will work to ensure children or youth in out of home placement receive support in foster placement and receive social services necessary to meet their needs to continue to grow and develop. The services are customized based on assessments, monitoring, and coordinating the team of professionals and foster parents working with the child. These positions focus on goals which impact safety, well-being, and permanency for each child. These positions will be responsible for a caseload of approximately 15-20 children / youth and providing case management services for those in out-of-home placement.

Senior Social Worker $67,472.67 - $101,916.75 Annually

Location and hours :

These positions are hybrid and will work face-to-face in the community and with tribal partners throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin, and remotely as job duties require. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In the Social Worker position, you will :

  • Ensure children / youth well-being through supported placements, services, family connections, and cultural needs.
  • Assess ongoing needs of children / youth, make referrals, and monitor services.
  • Meet with children monthly to build relationships.
  • Transport children and parents to appointments as needed.
  • Make placement referrals and decisions when changes are necessary.
  • Complete Out-of-Home Placement Plans.

  • Respond to clients experiencing mental health and / or substance use crises.
  • Provide support and consultation to teammates (e.g., case consultation, signing documentation).
  • Facilitate workgroups or meetings.
  • Develop tools and resources for the team.
  • Need to have :

  • For hire as a Social Worker , one of the following :
  • Licensed as a Social Worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, human services, or equivalent field.
  • For hire as a Senior Social Worker , one of the following :
  • Licensed as a Graduate Social Worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 18 semester (27 quarter) credits of graduate work in the above areas, and three years or more of full-time supervised experience as a social worker.
  • Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field with course work emphasis in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and principles or social welfare.
  • A valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation to travel primarily within / outside of the metro area to meet with persons in their residential settings and / or perform authorized off-site work duties, and the ability to obtain a to provide transportation as needed to essential services.
  • Nice to have :

  • Current license or working toward being licensed as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and working towards becoming clinically licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
  • Experience :
