Structural Engineering Department Manager

Title : Structural Engineering Department Manager – Heavy Industrial Manufacturing / EPC Projects Salary : $170-$190k + benefits Location : Cincinnati, OH Schedule : Hybrid / 4 days a week in office Overview : A national engineering firm is seeking a Structural Engineering Department Manager to lead and grow its structural discipline. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and experience delivering structural designs for industrial facilities. Key Responsibilities : Lead and manage the structural engineering team, including engineers, designers, and drafters. Oversee structural deliverables for industrial and commercial projects (steel, concrete, foundations, buildings, equipment structures). Provide technical guidance, quality control, and mentorship. Coordinate with project managers and other discipline leads to deliver projects on time and within budget. Maintain department standards and best practices. Build client relationships through strong technical communication. Support proposals, estimating, and other business development efforts. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering. Experience in structural engineering leadership or department management. Strong knowledge of major structural codes (AISC, ACI, ASCE, etc.). Background in heavy industrial projects (EPC manufacturing, chemical, pulp & paper, etc.). Proficiency with structural analysis / design software (e.g., STAAD, RISA, RAM). Excellent communication and leadership skills.
