About This Role :
The world of voice communication has evolved for over a century and is now entering an exciting new phase. As a Telephony Engineer, you will play a key role in rethinking how calls, media, and intelligence traverse modern networks. From SIP and RTP protocols to AI-enhanced voice interactions, your contributions will significantly influence communication between businesses and customers across multi-billion dollar industries.
Your Responsibilities :
Design, build, and manage telephony services that handle phone numbers, carrier integrations, and SIP trunks at scale.
Create robust signaling and media systems that connect traditional telephony with WebRTC and AI-driven pipelines.
Collaborate with carriers and global vendors to broaden number coverage, enhance routing, and guarantee regulatory compliance.
Work closely with the SFU, Developer Success, Infrastructure, and SDK teams to ensure voice features are easily accessible to developers.
Monitor and improve voice quality, latency, and reliability using advanced observability and debugging tools.
Contribute to the development of modern, developer-friendly APIs for telephony and media control.
Who You Are :
You are a strong senior software engineer experienced in complex, distributed systems, ideally with proficiency in Go, C, or C++.
You possess a deep understanding of APIs, backend architecture, and large-scale real-time systems.
You think beyond just code, recognizing how infrastructure choices affect product capabilities, developer experiences, and user satisfaction.
You have experience with developer platforms or communication products and understand the nuances of reliability, latency, and usability.
You are hands-on and inquisitive, comfortable engaging with protocols, packet captures, or troubleshooting production issues.
You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively across teams, and value simplicity in both design and execution.
