Position Summary

Extended Care Associate (Short Hills Campus | 202526 School Year) Hourly, Non-Exempt | $16$20 / hour based on experience

The Pingry School seeks an enthusiastic and responsible Extended Care Associate to join our Auxiliary Programs team for the 202526 school year at our Short Hills, NJ, campus. This is a 10-month, part-time, flexible hourly role reporting to the Extended Care Lead Teacher. The Extended Care Associate supports our Lower School Aftercare Program, running Monday through Friday from 2 : 005 : 00 p.m.

The Associate will supervise students, ensure safety, assist with homework, and coordinate activities such as recess, games, and snack time. Key responsibilities also include managing arrival and dismissal procedures, maintaining attendance, and upholding safety protocols in alignment with school guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with elementary-aged students, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to student well-being and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). Strong communication skills, comfort with technology (Google Suite), and a positive, can-do attitude are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the extended day arrival and dismissal process for all students participating in Auxiliary Programs.
  • Ensuring child safety while providing homework assistance.
  • Coordinate all aspects of aftercare, including attendance, snack, homework, recess, games, and activities, while maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Monitor dismissal of all students to parents / guardians and the inter-campus shuttle.
  • Oversee all safety protocols and norms as related to the SRP plans.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in extended daycare and after-school programs.
  • Experience with and enthusiasm for working with elementary-aged students.
  • Dedication to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students.
  • Robust interpersonal skills with an upbeat, engaging, "can-do" personality.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable with incorporating the latest technology into your workflow, including Zoom.
  • Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.) Background using Veracross and Finalsite is a bonus but not a requirement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience creating, supporting, and sustaining a culture of access and equity in a school environment.
  • High level of responsibility and accountability.
  • Must be able to balance working autonomously and as part of a team to contribute to the promotion of the school's mission.
  • A collaborative, service-oriented, and restorative justice-based approach to facilitate and foster effective professional working relationships across the school and all constituencies.
