City of Greeley : Work Live and Play in Greeley : Summary :

The Recreation Program Lead II Operations is an integral part of the City of Greeleys Recreation Division. This position supports the daily operations of recreation facilities programs services and events with added responsibilities beyond a Program Lead I. The Program Lead II serves as a key point of contact for staff and patrons provides mentorship and guidance to Program Lead I staff and other hourly employees and assists professional staff in the delivery of high-quality recreation experiences. This position reports directly to the Recreation Coordinator and supports the Operations and Fitness Coordinators. While not fully responsible for supervising Program Lead I staff the Program Lead II is expected to provide direction assist with training and act as a resource to ensure consistency in service delivery. Upon hire and completion of all required training the Program Lead II is expected to work independently exercise sound judgment and serve as the staff member in charge in the absence of full-time professional staff.

Experience Knowledge Skills :

Minimum Requirements

One to Three (1-3) years of recreation or related experience.

Three (3) years of customer service experience.

Current drivers license with clean driving record.

Current CPR First Aid and AED certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire).

Preferred

One (1) year of event planning program development or staff training experience.

Previous experience mentoring or supporting part-time staff.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide and support part-time staff.

Knowledge of recreation programming facility operations and customer service best practices. Collaboration skills including the ability to work across teams and support professional staff. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and recreation software systems.

Strong communication skills (oral written listening) with ability to convey expectations clearly. Organizational and time management skills with ability to balance multiple priorities.

Ability to exercise independent judgment while aligning with City policies and practices.

Ability to foster a positive inclusive and team-oriented work environment.

Ability to work evenings weekends and holidays as required

Essential Functions :

Plan lead and facilitate positive youth-centered and community-based recreation programs. Assist in planning coordinating and evaluating drop-in programming special events and other services.

Provide mentorship and day-to-day guidance to Program Lead I staff Guest Service Representatives and Child Watch Attendants.

Assist with onboarding and training new hourly staff modeling best practices and reinforcing City standards.

Support the Operations and Fitness Coordinators in coordinating and communicating with contracted instructors and service providers.

Serve as lead staff during assigned shifts ensuring facility and program operations run smoothly. Engage participants and guardians in a positive professional and customer-focused manner. Explain and enforce facility and / or program rules policies and procedures while positively representing the City.

Provide immediate customer service support and resolve issues within established guidelines. Act quickly calmly and appropriately in emergency situations.

Assist professional staff with administrative tasks and projects including scheduling reporting and program logistics.

Hold office and program hours to complete administrative work program preparation and facility support.

Attend and assist with staff meetings and trainings occasionally helping to facilitate peer learning. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Travel :

May travel up to 10% of the time between City of Greeley facilities (Family FunPlex Greeley Recreation Center and others as needed).

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Working Environment

Frequent interruptions and heavy public interaction.

Work indoors and outdoors including during inclement weather and in environments with

noise dust or cleaning chemicals.

Shifts may include early mornings late evenings weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

Visual acuity to read and perform computer and paperwork tasks.

Strength and stamina to walk stand bend stretch and lift up to thirty (30) pounds.

Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and recreation facility tools.

Strength and stamina enough to walk stand stretch bend lift or carry up to 49 lbs.

Physical effort required including but not limited to lifting weights squatting bending reaching spotting and prolonged standing and walking.
