Washington University in St. Louis announces a part-time position teacher of applied music in piano to begin in August 2025. This is a non-tenure-track renewable appointment. We are looking for a dynamic studio instructor in piano for both non-majors and music majors at all experience levels. The Department of Music part of the College of Arts & Sciences offers the following degrees : Bachelor of Arts in Music Bachelor of Music M.A. in Musicology and Theory and Ph.D. in Musicology and addition to the music major the Department also confers minors in music and provides lesson and performance opportunities for some 600 students per semester. Our highly motivated academically oriented undergraduates pursue musical performance primarily as a valuable aspect of their liberal arts education and less commonly as a professional goal.
Required Qualifications :
Masters Degree in music
Three years of applied piano teaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to deliver instruction from beginning to advanced proficiency levels.
Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to cultivate learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds.
Solo and collaborative performance profile.
Preferred Qualifications :
Previous university-level teaching experience.
Demonstrated ability to accompany choirs and coach voice students.
Flexible schedule.
