Wright Technical is supporting a client in the advanced materials space. They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Systems Engineer with experience in Industrial Controls / OT, SCADA, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to support manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for ensuring seamless integration between equipment, automation layers, and factory IT / OT systems, with a strong focus on precision, reliability, and uptime in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation, process control, and system integration, with an emphasis on optimizing manufacturing efficiency and ensuring high levels of system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to sites on existing OT (Operational Technology) and Control Systems for manufacturing processes.
  • Support projects from conception to completion.
  • Support HMI / SCADA systems to monitor and control manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, IT, and production staff, to ensure seamless system integration and operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to OT / Control Systems, SCADA, and MES to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production.
  • As needed, integrate process equipment with MES and SCADA platforms, ensuring data accuracy, synchronization, and real-time communication.
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Ensure cybersecurity and network segmentation of control systems in collaboration with Corporate IT.
  • Participate in commissioning, validation, and upgrading projects for new equipment or control systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and standard operating procedures.

Education

  • Required : Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer or Electrical Engineering.
  • Master's Degree a plus.
  • Experience

  • 7-10 years with various manufacturing controls and digital systems (PLCs, OT, SCADA, MES, SAP, etc.)
  • At least 5-10 years' experience as a technical project manager or product owner in the smart manufacturing space.
  • Experience with, and understanding of Industrial Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and SCADA.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong experience in working with teams to develop and maintain architecture and design of plant automation systems.
  • IoT understanding from a connectivity and data management perspective.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, such as ANSI / ISA-95 and ANSI / ISA-88.
  • Experience with the latest Industry 4.0 standards and regulations; digital manufacturing and advanced data acquisition.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite, SharePoint, Teams.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships cross-functionally and the demonstrated ability to influence up, down, and across in a matrixed organization.
  • Innovative thinker with a solution-oriented approach who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has demonstrated success in producing results when facing tight deadlines.
