Job Description

The job of Health Assistant is done for the purpose / s of providing clerical / clinical support in addressing the health needs of students; and providing appropriate care and / or referral for ill, medically fragile and / or injured students as may be required.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Medical Assistant Certificate preferred
• CPR Certification for Health Care Provider
• First Aid Certification
• Knowledge of medical technology as related to specific job functions
• General Clerical skills with computer data entry experience preferred
• Ability to relate and communicate with teachers, parents, students, all school employees and the general public
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
• Knowledge of school practices and procedures; public school experience preferred
• Knowledge and use of general office machines and equipment
• Bi-lingual ability preferred
• Must have or be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, through the Arizona Department of Public Safety

Essential and Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling. Crouching and / or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 10% walking and 40% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, some hazardous conditions, and in a clean atmosphere.
