Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY :

Plans, develops, implements and directs bank training and development programs including Sales, Products and Services, Technology, Supervisor, Customer Service, Loan, Compliance, Manager training, social media and skills training programs. Performs needs analyses and formulates training policies and schedules. Conducts New Employee Orientation and directs power point, collaboration of other departments and assist onboarding for all departments. Organizes and develops training manuals, reference library, training evaluation procedures, multimedia aids and other education materials. Supervise, coach, and evaluate the performance of the Training Coordinator. Trains other instructors and supervisory personnel in effective training techniques including building onboarding checklists. Conducts relationships and activities consistent with established Bank policies, procedures and systems, the corporate code of conduct, and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations. Responsible for hiring, developing and motivating personnel ensuring all staff are sales and service focused. Ensures adherence to established security procedures and reporting requirements, and ensures that personnel comply with established bank operating procedures and practices. Responsible for sales development activities including sales training, referral training, sales coaching and other activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Design and coordinate staff training programs based on Bank and employee needs.
  • Use meetings, questionnaires and surveys in consultation with managers / staff to analyze training needs.
  • Make training recommendations through analysis based on an understanding of Bank and specific department / work group objectives to optimize staff attendance.
  • Recommend changes in training and development when appropriate.
  • Obtain information on work-related external courses, prepare reports on their suitability, and make recommendations on appropriate programs for staff attendance.
  • Develop training resources. May involve preparing notes and visual displays from research, information obtained from subject matter expert or from one’s own knowledge of the specific area to be trained.
  • Investigate available training methods and procedures to determine the most effective manner to conduct programs.
  • Compile and / or revise training materials and manuals when appropriate. Maintain appropriate inventory of training materials and manuals.
  • Conduct training courses, seminars and workshops. May involve demonstrating equipment, leading group discussions, role-play activities, using overhead projectors, PC’s, etc.
  • Administer programs by personally conducting training sessions or assigning specific training activities to other Bank personnel.
  • Coordinate and / or utilize external training programs and products as needed.
  • Take responsibility for training equipment and materials.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. Evaluation involves using such methods as surveys, questionnaires, interviews and observation, then using the results to plan future courses or amend existing ones.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work area and ensure that all confidential records are secured and / or disposed of properly.
  • Consistently demonstrate proficiency in providing exemplary training and customer service. Actively listen to managers and employees and maintain a friendly, positive, professional attitude. Resolve difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate certifications in training programs, including STEP / Sales and others, as required. Attend all other required training.
  • Responsible for personnel administration, such as employment interviews, training and development, coaching, counseling, and performance reviews. Makes recommendations and decisions on hiring, discipline, promotion, transfers and terminations.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists others in the bank and performs other duties as needed and / or directed.
  • May be assigned other duties and responsibilities or work / training at other locations.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Personnel Relations, Business Administration, or Teaching supplemented by two years’ prior training, teaching or related personnel experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • A working knowledge of adult learning principles, design, development and evaluation methods is highly preferred.
  • Ability to relate complex material in “user friendly” manner. Good training techniques and presentation skills. Good public speaker at ease moderating large groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to interact within all levels of the Bank.
  • Creative ability, writing proficiency, visual graphics design ability.
  • Ability to research, analyze information and make recommendations and / or decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must possess good judgment skills and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Familiarity with financial institution products and services, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish / maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong PC skills required; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities / duties / projects as they arise.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to operate teller and office equipment including computers calculators / adding machines, telephones, voice mail, copy machines, overhead projectors and FAX machines.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle. Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for bank insurance purposes.
