PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES : Providing training, prevention, education and outreach activities; providing client services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; working with law enforcement and criminal justice officials for the development of victim response protocols; provide case management services to survivors of family abuse / domestic violence who are experiencing challenging situations and circumstances in a residential facility. Travel Required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

TRAINING and PREVENTION SPECIALIST

  • Answers crisis calls as needed and follows the established procedures for crisis intervention, intakes, safety planning and referrals.
  • Adheres to a flexible schedule to meet program and scheduling needs.
  • Provides presentations trainings and prevention workshops to the community at-large, law enforcement, court & justice officials, culturally specific communities, underserved communities, faith community and other social service agencies on interpersonal violence, available services, identification and response to victims
  • Teaches awareness and violence prevention curriculum to children, youth and college students utilizing age appropriate and scientific based curriculum.
  • Assists Program with coordinating and providing staff trainings and in-services.
  • Coordinates local activities for national victim activities : Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Crime Victims’ Rights Week, etc.
  • Provides community outreach in the service area including, distributing representing agency materials; providing information on services available for domestic violence and sexual assault victims; representing the agency at community events, health fair, conferences, etc.
  • Performs outreach activities in rural counties and underserved areas

CASE MANAGER

  • Conducts case management intakes, provides crisis counseling, assists client with establishing goals and objectives; and provides client advocacy
  • Assist clients with goal attainment
  • Maintains case files on each client per established procedures and ensures files complete, accurate and up to date
  • Provides weekly support group and life skills meetings for shelter, outreach and OVW housing clients.
  • Provides clients with follow up services, as appropriate and safe for the clients.
  • Participates in Morning Client Meetings and Team Client Staffings
  • Coordinate with staff to work cooperatively in efficiently meeting adult and children’s needs
  • Ensures admission and discharge questionnaires are distributed, collected, and complied in data base.
  • Assists staff, as needed, with providing client services to meet daily needs of family; monitoring client activities and shelter operations; transportation
  • Coordinates with other staff team members to provide client transportation and court accompaniment to court / legal proceedings and / or appointment(s) with law enforcement agency.
  • Coordinates with the OVW Case Manger to provide client services and case management.
  • EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE :

  • Bachelor’s in Social work, Communications or related field and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be knowledgeable of interpersonal violence; trauma-informed care; victim (client)-centered models and local community resources.
  • Knowledge of social media applications.
  • SKILLS / ABILITIES :

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to effectively make presentations to the public and provide training workshops
  • Must possess skills to be empathetic, nonjudgmental, supportive, respectful and empowering in working with victims of interpersonal violence
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately respond to crisis situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with agency programs and also organizations outside the agency.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule to meet program needs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet stringent deadlines.
