See full details in link below (for AFSCME employees)The Instructional Technology Specialist serves as the project manager for Learning Management System (LMS) and web conferencing system, coordinates on-campus and off-campus support for users, provides services to the academic and administrative community as the LMS System Administrator; and communicates to the students, faculty, and staff upgrades, additional functionality, and changes to the LMS and related systems. As the LMS administrator, the Specialist plans, installs, tests and implements new releases, updates, patches and extensions. He / she is responsible for evaluating, recommending, and implementing vendor product integrations in the LMS environment. He / she works collaboratively with other PASSHE LMS administrators, instructional technologists and designers, and technical support staff to monitor shared system support. He / she serves as the project manager responsible for troubleshooting problems and facilitating resolutions.
The Instructional Technology Specialist provides training and assistance to campus faculty and students based on sound pedagogical techniques, instructional strategies, and instructional philosophies; utilizing various instructional design models. He / she monitors emerging technologies and communicates to faculty the latest developments in the design, production and evaluation of new media. He / she develops and presents programs and workshops on multimedia using a variety of mediums (e.g., face-to-face, online tutorials, and audio / video sessions). He / she is responsible for developing support documentation, including the development of screencasts using Articulate Storyline or similar software packages and / or creating clear, concise, functional written documentation.
The Instructional Technology Specialist supports faculty and students in the use of multimedia tools and applications for teaching and research, both in face-to face and online formats by offering professional development opportunities. He / she assists faculty in the resolution of multimedia problems.
The Instructional Technology Specialist works directly with faculty, staff, and administration to integrate technology into the University community maintaining clear and open communication with appropriate audiences on status, activities and changes. The Instructional Technology Specialist designs and produces interactive multimedia programs as appropriate or assigned for administration and academic stakeholders.
The Instructional Technology Specialist facilitates an online instruction certification course required for faculty teaching Shippensburg University distance education courses, which includes an overview of functionality with the Learning Management System, web conferencing software, assessment tools, and other related applications.
The Instructional Technology Specialist researches, selects, and coordinates the installation of software packages and applications in the Instructional Design and Technology Hub.
The Instructional Technology Specialist provides consulting services to academic departments and teaching faculty and interfaces with various University stakeholders to develop, present, and promote professional development opportunities for faculty.
The Instructional Technology Specialist supports faculty in the design and delivery of courses offered via video / web conferencing and via distance education using instructional design principles.
The Instructional Technology Specialist represents the university at regional and national conferences.
Minimum Qualifications Qualified candidates will have one year of experience in instructional technology / design and an Associate’s Degree in instructional technology (or a related field that includes or is supplemented by six credits in the area of instructional technology) or three years of experience in instructional design. Required education / experience must have been obtained in the last three years. Successful performance in an on-campus interview is required. Preferred Qualifications A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in instructional technology (or a related field) and three years of experience in a higher education setting as an instructional technologist / designer working directly with faculty, learning management systems, and web conferencing tools is desirable.
