About this position :

LMCU is looking for a Community Relations Mortgage Loan Officer to develop and execute strategies that are intended to create and build our relationships with under resourced communities. Successful candidates will work closely with the community public relations champion on community events sponsorships and activities serving as the primary contact for community groups and organizations. They will independently cultivate relationships with community leaders outside referral sources and centers of influence to help grow residential mortgage business. Acting as a liaison between applicants and LMCU they will meet with applicants and originate mortgage loans. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with exceptional sales ability. Candidates will also manage a book of business consisting of existing and potential customers while maintaining active loans.

What youll do :

Identifies new business opportunities and business partnerships while developing strong relationships with partner decision-makers. Educates the community through both traditional and non-traditional platforms about the benefits that LMCU can provide including events presentations and incoming calls. Maintains an active pipeline of community affairs-eligible businesses. Identifies member needs and provides advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interest of the member.

Functions as the primary advocate for under-resourced communities by partnering with organizations in our service area for event planning education and scheduling within those communities. Serves as a brand ambassador for LMCU at industry and community events positioning LMCU as a thought leader in services to under-resourced communities. Raises community awareness about our commitment by presenting at public engagements panels webinars and similar events. Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and / or Credit Union-sponsored events annually. Plans and executes neighborhood destination events to build positive public relations across all communities we serve.

Originates reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer property and loan conditions meet bank and regulatory standards. Approves or rejects loan applications or requests additional information. Establishes terms and conditions of approved loans and reviews them with members. Markets the Credit Unions mortgage lending program to companies and individuals within the real estate community.

Acts as an active member of LMCUs Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee. Leads an internal working group to solicit and provide feedback on our progress. Facilitates ongoing conversations and strategy meetings with LMCU team members to ensure the strategy remains relevant. Reviews marketing campaigns targeted to under-resourced communities to ensure cultural relevancy. Collaborates with Marketing to develop advertising marketing and promotional plans including implementing social media strategies to grow the online supporter base and traffic. Works with Marketing to align partner needs and develop resources to support successful relationships. Assists in product marketing including product launches new business development sales tools and competitive analysis.

What Youll Bring :

Minimum 2 years mortgage origination or lending experience preferred.

Proficiency in a variety of personal computer software programs including Microsoft Windows Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

Ability to coordinate and prioritize large detailed project requirements and schedules. This role is often required to oversee and direct several projects in different markets at once.

Ability to establish relationships with housing / non-profit partners within the St. Petersburg / Tampa community that align with LMCUs pathways to homeownership initiatives.

A college degree. Must be bondable. Must have the ability to obtain an NMLS ID pursuant to requirements of the S.A.F.E. Act.

A significant level of interpersonal skills is required for extensive internal and external contact as well as motivating influencing and building relationships with others with an upbeat positive attitude.

Must be comfortable in the following situations : cold-calling face to face meetings and presentations to differently sized groups while representing LMCU. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times. Possesses an understanding of the cultural nuances of under resourced communities in our field of membership.
