DEFINITION :
Adjunct instructor in the Graphic Design Curriculum Program at Cape Fear Community College.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
Essential Functions :
Provide effective instruction to students online and / or in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance.
Teaching needs may be in one or more of the following areas :
Typography, Computer Graphics, Design Research, Branding, Print / Publication Design, Package Design, Interactivity, UX / UI, Portfolio Design
Instructional modes available / offered may include face to face, online, or blended (combination of face to face / online).
Other Important Functions :
Ensure a safe and productive teaching and working environment (classroom, lab, studio) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards where applicable. Work with Program Director and other instructors to coordinate instruction and curriculum goals.
Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines. Expectations for part-time instructors in the program also include as-needed responsibilities related to training and recruiting at college, state, and federal levels.
Online instruction must adhere with ADA Compliance Regulations and RSI measures (Regular Substantive interactions) in course materials and delivery.

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be :
Minimum Education / Training :
Candidates for this position must possess a Master’s degree with at least 18 hours in a graphic design, digital art, or closely related field
OR candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or closely related field with significant industry experience.

Preferred Education / Training, Experience, Skills :
Experience as a generalist graphic designer with proven experience with the printing / publishing, advertising, packaging, or interactivity is preferred. Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite on the Mac platform. Ideal candidates should be active in the field, have teaching experience at the collegiate level, and be able to provide examples of both personal / professional work and evidence of successful student work for consideration.
