Sr. Web Developer (PHP / Wordpress)

Full time remote opening for a Sr. Web Developer (PHP / Wordpress). You must live in the Southern California area as there will be on site a few times a year.

As a Web Developer with a front-end focus, you will craft and maintain engaging, customer-facing websites tailored for marketing across various business segments. Working closely with design, product, and development teams, you’ll deliver top-tier, user-focused software solutions that align with organizational objectives. Your role involves building interactive tools, championing front-end excellence, contributing to the Symphony design system, and ensuring a robust CMS (WordPress). You’ll also guide junior developers and engage in Agile Scrum workflows.

Key Duties

Create dynamic digital tools, such as calculators and configurators, to enhance user education and engagement on web platforms.

Partner with teams to design and deploy enterprise-grade, customer-centric software solutions.

Promote front-end best practices that prioritize usability, performance, SEO, and ADA (WCAG) compliance.

Support and enhance the Symphony design system to maintain UI / UX consistency and elevate standards.

Ensure the WordPress CMS operates with high performance and reliability.

Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.

Engage in Agile Scrum processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and bi-weekly retrospectives.

Mentor junior developers on company standards, workflows, and best practices.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or comparable qualifications.

Skills and Experience

3+ years of experience developing websites with front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, SASS).

3+ years of PHP back-end development experience.

3+ years of experience building WordPress-based websites.

Expertise in maintaining consistent CSS styling across devices, browsers, and platforms.

Ability to transform detailed layouts and wireframes into functional HTML pages.

Proficiency in working with RESTful APIs and formats like JSON and XML.

Skilled in using debugging tools, such as Firebug and Chrome DevTools.

Strong knowledge of version control systems (Git, SVN, Mercurial).

Experience with ACF Gutenberg blocks and native WordPress features.

Familiarity with managed hosting platforms like Pantheon.

Understanding of ADA (WCAG) accessibility standards for web development.

Knowledge of SEO best practices.
