Telecom and Security Systems Technician

Our client is seeking a Telecom and Security Systems Technician to support the deployment and maintenance of physical security technologies across multiple sites. This role will work closely with the security and telecom teams to ensure reliable installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of video surveillance, access control, and related networked systems. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders in both office and field environments.

This role is onsite in Portland, Oregon.

Telecom and Security Systems Technician Responsibilities

  • Assist with the deployment, configuration, and upgrades of video cameras, network video recorders, and related hardware.
  • Provide field service support, including site visits to resolve issues, perform equipment testing, and conduct upgrades.
  • Configure switch ports, DHCP reservations, and support basic IP network troubleshooting.
  • Monitor and respond to service tickets, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Maintain and update documentation related to security and telecom systems.
  • Participate in project and team meetings, including weekly trainings and ad-hoc collaboration.
  • Support capital project teams and other district initiatives as required.
  • Perform additional duties aligned with technical skills and project needs.

Telecom and Security Systems Technician Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience with basic IP networking and Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Dependable transportation for travel between sites.
  • Strong initiative, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to learning new systems, technologies, and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.

    • Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with video surveillance systems, IP cameras, and network video recorders.
  • Familiarity with ExacqVision software, physical access control systems, and Kantech platforms.
  • Knowledge of video intercom systems, Windows server environments, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Prior exposure to camera and NVR firmware / software upgrades.
