Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist (Hand Therapy) is responsible for delivering patient care through evaluation, treatment, plan of care development, re-evaluation, and discharge planning. The role also includes supervision of assistants and aides, clear documentation, and maintaining strong communication with patients, physicians, and third-party payers. The therapist will also be involved in case management, clinical education, and enhancing client relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with AOTA standards and physician orders.
- Develop individualized treatment plans including goals, frequency, and duration.
- Supervise and delegate appropriate care to assistants and aides per state guidelines.
- Modify patient programs as needed and document changes.
- Maintain timely and compliant documentation for evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Communicate patient progress and care plans with referring physicians, insurers, and case managers.
- Fabricate custom splints and orthotics.
- Participate in quality assurance, clinical education, and community outreach efforts.
- Assist in equipment maintenance and workplace safety protocols.
- Follow all company policies and Medicare compliance requirements.

Able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently using proper biomechanical techniques.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.Sufficient vision, hearing, and fine motor skills to perform therapy duties and documentation.Ability to operate therapy equipment and push / pull wheeled equipment.Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (ACOTE-approved).Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of California (or ability to obtain).Competency in advanced practices including Hand Therapy and Physical Agent Modalities, demonstrated through post-professional education and training in :Upper extremity anatomy and pathology
Connective tissue physiology and healingBiomechanics and kinesiologyThermotherapy and electrotherapySurgical procedures and rehabilitation protocolsSupervision eligibility if completing required training under a qualified provider.
